The Element Song (Style Frame)
Description: I’m currently working on a short animation (time permitting) based on ‘The Element Song‘ by Tom Lehrer. I wanted to play with the Mograph Sound Effector in Cinema 4D to drive the animation in conjunction with some Dynamics and Thinking Particles.
Main Techniques Covered: Mograph, Lighting, Shaders.
Software Used: Cinema 4D, After Effects.
Primitive Morph
Description: A short abstract animation. Its purpose was to test some techniques in Cinema 4D & After Effects whilst making something pretty. Prepare for a very short burst of shiny geometry cut to a subtle sound track :).
Main Techniques Covered: Morphing with deformers, cloning looping animations onto randomised geometry, mograph effectors, multipass rendering, lighting.
Software Used: Cinema 4D, After Effects, Premier, GSG Light Kit, VC Optical Flares, RSMB Motion Blur.
Shadows of Liberty (Showcase)
Description: Below is an edit created by Capture to showcase the work carried out on Shadows of Liberty, an independent feature documentary about news censorship. Working with Capture I created a significant amount of animation for the project, a breakdown of which can be found on the Featured Work page of my main site along with a full list of credits.
My Role: Motion Design, 2D Animation, 3D Animation & Modelling
Elstree Film Studios (Christmas E-Card)
Description: I was asked to create this year’s Christmas E-Card for Elstree Film Studios. They required something clean, crisp & simple. I opted for a traditional winter setting that appeared to come together in the style of an old fashioned film set. A slow moving camera shows all the elements falling or sliding into place to create the final scene.
Shadows of Liberty (Trailer)
Description: A trailer for the theatrical documentary ‘Shadows of Liberty’ due out next year. Whilst working with Capture I completed a number of motion graphics sequences and other animated content. A breakdown of my contribution will follow once the film has been released.

These Words Aren’t Meant For Me (Projections)
Description: For singer songwriter Rob Finlay’s debut album ‘These Words Aren’t Meant For Me’ (See the Featured Work page on my main site for the official video) we created imagery that we then projected onto the band on the day of the shoot. This is an edit of the projections that we fed into the 12000 lumen projector.

New Logo (Concept)
Description: Design ideas for my own personal logo. No pallets or textures as yet, just possible geometry & layout. Want it to be clearly read as N & C as in Neil Copland. Think I like option 3 the most.
Paper Planes
Description: Some RND for a personal short involving a paper airplane. I used ‘Foundry Camera Tracker’ for a little tracking test, and some simple joint rigging to allow the airplane to unfold. Not bad first attempt but the end track needs a little tweak. I need to shoot some proper footage and work on the natural lighting of the 3D object especially as it enters frame. Would like it all to feel home made and for the airplane to feel realistic, at least to begin with.
